A new recipe tried . . . and liked!

I LOVE trying new recipes!  And friends coming for dinner is a great reason to try something new and exciting!
Many have told me I am crazy to try a new recipe for company . . . naaa . . . I love the challenge!  So, here's the newest one!

Browkies
(This is a combination of brownies and cookies!)

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Layer 1:
3/4 cup melted butter
1 1/2 cup sugar
1 1/2 tsp vanilla
3 eggs
1/2 cup cocoa powder
3/4 cup flour
1/2 tsp baking powder
1 tsp salt
1 cup chocolate chips
Mix together butter, sugar, vanilla, and eggs.  Mix together dry ingredients and add to butter mixture.  Mix well.  Then stir in chocolate chips.  Spread into a 13X9 greased pan.  Set aside.
Layer 2:

  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup white sugar
  • 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 eggs
  • 1 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cups semisweet chocolate chips

Mix together butter, sugars, and egg, and vanilla.  Mix dry ingredients together.  Add to the butter mixture.  Mix well.  Add chocolate chips.  Drop by spoonfuls on top of the brownie batter.  Gently spread the cookie dough so to cover as much of the brownie batter as possible.
Bake in preheated oven for 25 - 30 minutes, until set.  Remove from oven and let cool.

Serve as a browkie sundae with ice cream and chocolate sauce or just as bar cookies!
Yummy either way!
